Dorset Council is carrying out a series of investigative boreholes to inform the future design of a new sewerage system at Five Ash Cottages, Witchampton.
To enable them to carry out the relevant work safely, we plan to close sections of Dark Lane, Lower Street and Critchel Lane to through traffic. The work is expected to start on 13th September 2021 and finish on/by 17th September 2021. The closure will be in place between 7am and 5pm. The road will be reopened at night. During the closure periods there will be no on-street parking available. Parking restrictions will be imposed to prevent waiting or parking on the roads stated above. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. If a vehicle has been towed the owner will need to contact our towing contractors Bride Valley on 01305 889421.

Witchampton Road ClosuresQ. Can I get to my property?
We always try to maintain access to properties, but the very nature of the work means that it will cause some inconvenience.
At times, we may have to control access to your property or business, which may include asking you to wait for a period of time while we complete a task.
Our site traffic and geotechnical team will always assist you as far as possible.
Q. I have an appointment on one of the closure days, will I be allowed access?
If you have an appointment, please ask for the Chargehand on site who will be able to arrange for access/egress. Please allow extra travelling time for the appointment.
Q. Have the bus companies and emergency services been told?
The emergency services and bus companies are notified about the closure, so they are able to make alternative arrangements. However, emergency access will always be maintained
Q. During the works will I be able to park on the road?
During the road closure there will be no on-street parking available. However, when the road is open you will still be able to park outside your property.

The work involves drilling several explorative boreholes to inform the future design of a new Sewerage Scheme for Five Ash Cottages and Downlea.
The boreholes will provide information on the ground conditions of the proposed outfall route.
