Dorset Council has issued a Notice under Section 14 [2] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 as amended. All vehicles, cyclists and horse riders will be prohibited from proceeding along Manswood Common, Witchampton between Manswood and Nicky House Cottage, a distance of approximately 80 metres. The Notice is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise likelihood of danger to highway users. It came in to operation with immediate effect and can remain in force for up to 21 days, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 22nd July 2025.

This Notice will enable South West Water safe access to carry out emergency works to a burst main.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections – this can be seen in the official notice embedded below as a PDF or you can download the PDF notice here.

For further information about the work being undertaken and access arrangements, call South West Water on 03443 462020. To discuss this Notice, contact Dorset Council on 01305 221020 or use our website: www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/roadworks/enquiries. You can also find this information online: dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/roadworks-events or read the council’s guide to roadworks for general information and advice.

Any person who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the Notice will be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £1000.
