The Annual Governance and Accountability Return 2025/26 is now available.

Each year we prepare an Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR), which needs to be reviewed by an external auditor appointed by Smaller Authorities’ Audit Appointments Ltd.

The unaudited AGAR has been published with the public notice (available here as a PDF, and embedded below). As it has not yet been reviewed, it may be subject to change following audit.

Any interested person has the right to inspect and copy the accounting records and all supporting documents for the financial year ended 31 March 2026. These documents will be available on reasonable notice by application to:

Ian Hanstead, Parish Clerk
Phone: 01258 840634 (10am–4pm Mon–Fri)
Email: Clerk@valeofallen-pc.gov.uk
Address: c/o The Willows, Gussage St Michael, Dorset, BH21 5HX

Inspection period:

  • Start: Monday 1 June 2026
  • End: Friday 17 July 2026
    (35 working days)

You also have the opportunity to question the appointed auditor about the accounting records, and the right to make an objection which concerns the matter in respect of which the appointed auditor could either make a public interest report or apply to the court for a declaration that an item of account is unlawful. Written notice of such an objection must first be given to the auditor and a copy sent to the Parish Council. The appointed auditor’s details are as follows: BDO LLP, Arcadia House, Maritime Walk, Ocean Village, Southampton SO14 3TL or councilaudits@bdo.co.uk.

The official Notice includes a summary of your rights.
