FAQ

The notice also includes a Q&A of common questions:

Q. Can I get to my property?

We always try to maintain access to properties, but the very nature of the work means that it will cause some inconvenience.

At times, we may have to control access to your property or business, which may include asking you to wait for a period of time while we complete a task.

Our site traffic and geotechnical team will always assist you as far as possible.

Q. I have an appointment on one of the closure days, will I be allowed access?

If you have an appointment, please ask for the Chargehand on site who will be able to arrange for access/egress. Please allow extra travelling time for the appointment.

Q. Have the bus companies and emergency services been told?

The emergency services and bus companies are notified about the closure, so they are able to make alternative arrangements. However, emergency access will always be maintained

Q. During the works will I be able to park on the road?

During the road closure there will be no on-street parking available. However, when the road is open you will still be able to park outside your property.

Q. What is the work?

The work involves drilling several explorative boreholes to inform the future design of a new Sewerage Scheme for Five Ash Cottages and Downlea.

The boreholes will provide information on the ground conditions of the proposed outfall route.

Q. Who is managing this work?

Engineers within the Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management team at Dorset Council have been tasked with managing the investigation works and are employing specialist contractors to carry out the formal investigations and site works.
